A Nation's Pride
A nation's pride is her bride who pays her price
She's like a beautiful woman, who's beauty a man must adorn and atone
A nation's pride is her simple people
The service men,
The soldiers, security men, warriors and patroits.
The business men, the common traders and the royals.
The beauty has been before colonization.
They saw the beauty and came for it but we were ignorant of their motive.
July 7th 1967 never left us the same.
The civil war that left us standing divided,
What lesson have we yet learnt?
50years down without recovery, yet some Beat the drums of war
Forgetting that war knows no peace and leaves generations with forever backward scars.
Stop the gorilla print media that castigates one against the other,
Causing war untold All in the name of social media and free-will journalism. You report the gossips, the hear say and institute hatred among brethren, one blood living as politicians tying to make ends meet.
Now we milk our nation dry, we cause harm and say life na turn by turn.
Why do you kill without fear or feeling? Is it not the same blood running in your veins or you have gone supernatural? Are you now a god? Some of our leaders embesle our money, use our power and become self acclaimed gods of the nation. Demigods that will die like everyone else. even as the poor ending in an Earth's pit. A nation's pride are her people.
Mugu fall guy man wak you said smiling, but are you not ashamed of yourself? You posses the riches and blessings of a thousand men in your pocket. You watch them suffer without even a stipend or a suitable daily meal.
How dare you mock the nation you have caused nothing but pain alone?
You belong here and not another, a nation's pride are her people.
Come now and marry her, adorn her and make her great.
What about you critic. you have not been there I guess, with your mouth and pen tearing our leaders. What is your own quarter if not to scatter and imprint scars.
Our leaders may be on the wrong part but home is home.
Many have migrated and will but there they go as second class citizens here in Nigeria we are heros of Faith,
Patroits serving our father Land, we are Nigeria's pride.
If a man runs away from home for trouble, what happens when he mets terror in another man's land? You are her own, her responsibility. Stay with her and serve her and make home better not batter.
You leader lead well, the people you inherited. Nothing lasts forever. Neither power nor fame nor money. None I tell you, but our nation remains for our children.
Nation's pride are we.
The poor, the rich, the leader and the led all with one aim.
This is home. Nigeria will be great again I tell you. Get your witness from the first national anthem, read and get meaning.
We have more than we ever will need. A nation blessed with so much resources, both natural and humans. Show me who possess more that we do if not for greed and mismanagement.
Stop beating the drums of war, raise the banner high, our flag of unity, the green beautified with white and green. Chant that national anthem in truth.
Stop the killing, stop the cheating, stop the political betrayal, nepotism, religious sentiments and stop the corruption. No one else but us together, a nation's pride are her people. Nigerians are the pride of Nigeria.
NIGERIA I HAIL THEE!
